Rèbre House in Wangenbourg
Colonel Charles de Gaulle stayed for nearly eight months in a house opposite the church, with the Rèbre family.
He occupied two rooms, including a bathroom on the first floor.
The house also housed a significant library, which he consulted during his stay.
De Gaulle regularly discussed with François Rèbre, the family's son, who had fought at Verdun during World War I in the German uniform. These exchanges helped him better understand the methods and tactics of the Wehrmacht, valuable information for his future military strategies.
