Reinhardsmunster
Located south of Saverne, the commune of Reinhardsmunster is a perfect stop for lovers of green tourism and hiking. Its rolling landscapes provide an ideal setting to explore the remains of three historic castles. Among them, the Ochsenstein Castles, perched at 585 meters altitude on the Haberacker Forest Road, stand out with their still imposing ruins. Notably, the remains of a castle chapel can be found there, recognizable by its almond-shaped rib vault, a testament to a medieval past rich in history.
Reinhardsmunster also caters to heritage discovery desires with its remarkable religious monuments. The village church, classified as a Historic Monument, rests on foundations dating back to the 19th century. Nearby, the Saint-Léger chapel, built between the 11th and 12th centuries, is an architectural gem where different styles blend harmoniously. Its Romanesque bas-relief and Gothic door frame illustrate this artistic fusion, making this site a must-see for history and architecture enthusiasts.
