Riedwihr
The site of Riedwihr has been inhabited since the early Iron Age, but the village first appears in records in 1279. Located in Upper Alsace, it was part of the Habsburg lands. Until World War I, Riedwihr's economy was solely agricultural, focusing on mixed farming of corn, tobacco, and vegetables. In the 20th century, sauerkraut cultivation developed here, and the village gained a local reputation, becoming a reference in this field.
