Rieffel Casemate

This two-level casemate is part of the earliest constructions of the Maginot Line, built in 1930.

It is situated in the main defense line between the Schœnenbourg artillery fortification and the Hatten shelter, thus protecting the municipal territory of Oberrœdern.

Beneath its reinforced concrete shell, it housed a force of 24 men.

Struck twice, in June 1940 and January 1945, it still retains visible traces of these bombardments today, as do the four other casemates present in the commune.
