River Fishing

The Bruche is a first-category private river, ideal for fishing. The season runs from the second Saturday in March to the third Sunday in September. On the stretch from Bourg-Bruche to Schirmeck, about 25 km long, two fly fishing "no kill" (catch and release) areas are offered: one in Schirmeck, the other in Fouday. These specific areas open on May 1st. This sector is managed by the AAPPMA of the Haute Vallée de la Bruche, headquartered at the Breux pond in Saulxures. For more information, call 03 88 47 25 74 or visit www.aappmahautebruche.fr. Fishing permits for this AAPPMA are available at the Bruche Valley Tourist Office, located at 114 Grand’ Rue in Schirmeck (phone 03 88 47 18 51). An annual URNE permit is offered for this stretch, with the possibility to collect regulations and catch logs at the tourist office.

The next stretch, from Schirmeck to Muhlbach, is managed by the AAPPMA of Wisches-Hersbach. For information or fishing permits, call 03 88 97 84 49 or visit http://www.wisches-hersbach.fr/aappma.html.

Finally, from Muhlbach to Urmatt, the fishing lots include the Bruche, the Muhlbach, as well as the Soultzbach and Eimerbach streams. This area is managed by the AAPPMA of Urmatt. For any questions, call 03 88 47 38 67 or visit www.urmatt.fr/aappma.html.

The fish found in the Bruche are mainly wild trout. To fish, you must hold a permit with a fishing tax (AAPPMA member) and purchase a daily or holiday permit. A fishing permit does not guarantee access to all waterways: it is advisable to check with the vendor when purchasing. All information on reserves, specific regulations, and locations is available from the AAPPMA officials.

It is essential to respect the environment, collect your waste, and avoid any pollution or disturbance to wildlife, flora, or other anglers.
