Rossberg Massif
Perched at the end of the Ballon d'Alsace range, this natural site offers an exceptional panorama of the Thur and Doller valleys. Its history is marked by the presence of wild horses, called *Ross* in German, which lived here until the 16th century. The old farms of Obere, L'untere, and Mittlere Rossberg have almost all disappeared, leaving only stone remains in some cases. Only the Mittlere Rossberg farm has persisted and continues agricultural activity today. From 1906, skiers began to frequent the slopes of Rossberg, leading to the construction of chalets and a ski lift. The chaumes, vast pasturelands, now shelter herds of cows, sheep, and horses. At the heart of the massif stand the Vogelsteine, at 1165 meters altitude, volcanic rock outcrops that host a fragile and rare rock flora.
