Ruins of Gutenbourg Castle

Built in the 12th century by Ulric on a rocky spur at 800 meters altitude, this castle overlooks the surrounding landscape. Its rich and turbulent history saw it pass from the counts of Eguisheim to the counts of Ferettes, before becoming part of the Habsburg possessions. In the 15th century, it belonged to the Ribeaupierre family, who abandoned it the following century, leaving the site to decay. Today, the remains of the keep and the enclosure walls bear witness to its glorious past. From this vantage point, a panoramic view embraces the village below and the Vosges mountains, offering a spectacle both majestic and peaceful.
