Ruins of the Tierkirchlein

According to an old tradition, locals would bring their animals to this site to pray and seek protection against diseases and epidemics.

The Tierkirchlein, or little animal chapel, was once an important pilgrimage site for the faithful in the region.

However, after the Reformation at the end of the 16th century, attendance gradually declined until it almost completely disappeared by the mid-19th century.

Today, only part of the walls of this Gothic building remain, silent witnesses to a past where faith and traditions combined to watch over the livestock.
