Ryumon Ji Zen Buddhist Monastery

Perched at the entrance of the Northern Vosges Regional Natural Park, this Buddhist monastery is centered around a main chapel and several annex buildings. It also features a vegetable garden, a medicinal plant garden, and a stone garden adorned with sculptures. Founded in 1999 by Master Reigen Wang-Genh, with support from Alsatian and German practitioners, it has since welcomed monks, nuns, and laypeople committed to monastic life. The site is open to anyone wishing to participate in a Buddhist retreat or learn Zen meditation. Accessible for self-guided visits daily from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, it also offers guided tours for groups of more than eight people by reservation. However, it is important to note that the monastery may occasionally be closed to the public during silent retreats.
