Saint Amand Chapel and Its Trompe-l'oeil
From the 15th to the 19th century, the waters of Soultz-les-Bains attracted many spa visitors, especially residents of Strasbourg. After the fire of 1913, the remains of the old thermal pavilion, which had become dilapidated, were completely demolished in 1970. To reconnect with the ancient tradition linked to Saint Amand, the owner of the thermal site built a chapel dedicated to this saint at the southern entrance of the estate. The interior of the building was decorated with original frescoes and stained glass windows created by the fresco artist Roland Perret, who was from Molsheim. On June 26, 1994, the chapel was blessed by Reverend Father Eugène Hugel, then parish priest of Soultz-les-Bains. Today, this chapel still stands on the private grounds of the thermal site.
