Saint Arbogast Church
The church of Duppigheim, dedicated to Saint Arbogast, bishop of Strasbourg in the 6th century, preserves a porch tower whose foundations may date back to the Romanesque period, around the 12th century. In the 18th century, a reconstruction project was considered in 1763 by Jean-Michel Rüscher but was not adopted. The work was eventually carried out according to the plans of architect Christiani, and the nave was completed in 1765. Half a century later, in 1846, the building was extended eastward, while the choir was rebuilt in the style of the 18th century, following a project by Ch. Morin. In 1885, a fire damaged the church, requiring restoration of the painting of Saint Arbogast, the pulpit, the organ, and the Stations of the Cross. It also houses a copy of an 1832 ex-voto, painted under glass by an unknown artist, originating from the chapel at the village's eastern entrance. Guided group visits are available by appointment through the Duppigheim History and Heritage Association.
