Saint-Arbogast Mixed Church

Perched on the right bank of the Kirneck, this fortified church has its origins in a distant past. Built on the site of an ancient Roman fort, it proudly features an elegant Romanesque choir bell tower. Its history dates back to the 11th or 12th century, a time when Romanesque art shaped the religious buildings of the region. One of its most remarkable treasures is found on one of its external facades: a tympanum dated 1150, carved with the image of the tree of life, a universal symbol of rebirth and the connection between heaven and earth. In the 16th century, the church's nave was widened and raised, giving it greater spaciousness and brightness. When night falls, the atmosphere around this historic site lights up. The banks of the Kirneck, close to the church, as well as the nearby fountain, are adorned with light displays, transforming this peaceful setting into an enchanting spectacle.
