Saint-Eloi Church
The church of Lauw, built between 1868 and 1870 under the direction of Father Adam, who was both the architect and project manager, stands as a significant symbol of the village. Its Franc-Comtois-style roof, decorated with brightly colored geometric patterns, is a distinctive element of the local identity, easily recognizable in the valley landscape.
In 1987, the building and all its parish assets were transferred to the municipality by the Fabric Council, thus becoming part of the communal heritage. The church suffered damage during both World Wars but was carefully restored to regain its original beauty. Painters Greth and then Talenti contributed to these works, revitalizing the building while preserving its spiritual character.
A notable moment in the church's recent history occurred in 2002 when two new bells were installed, a joint acquisition by the parish and the municipality. This was a first, as until then, the bells had come from another parish and were recovered during the original construction of the building.
