Saint George Church
Around 1310, the first Gothic church was built on a natural elevation in the heart of the village of Rodern. Today, only the ground floor of its tower, which serves as the base for the current bell tower, remains from this original construction.
Around the church, the cemetery was established, likely protected by a fence offering refuge in case of danger.
In 1750, the building was completely rebuilt and significantly enlarged with the active participation of the villagers. Later, its interior was decorated in the Baroque style characteristic of the reign of Louis XVI.
Walking around the church, one discovers an exceptional panorama: the Haut-Koenigsbourg castle, the Rodern cemetery, the hills covered with vineyards, and the village of Saint-Hippolyte unfold in a picturesque setting.
