Saint George's Church
The parish church of Saint George stands on the site of a former chapel dedicated to Saint Sebastian.
Its architecture results from two distinct construction phases. The porch tower, in neoclassical style, was built between 1776 and 1785 under the direction of Desbordes, the chief engineer of Bridges and Roads of Lower Alsace. The nave and choir were entirely rebuilt in a neo-Gothic style starting in 1846. Among the eleven stained glass windows commissioned in 1848 by Mayor Joseph André, priest Florian Reiber, and industrialist J.-B. Muller, three adorn the choir. Created by Strasbourg glass painters Baptiste Petit-Gérard, Ritter, and Muller, these windows draw inspiration from medieval Alsatian art, notably the emperors of the north collateral of Strasbourg Cathedral. The central stained glass depicts the church's patron saints, Sebastian and George, as well as the Trinity surrounded by the Church Fathers: Augustine, Jerome, Ambrose, and Gregory.
