Saint Gilles Church

According to tradition, this church replaces an old chapel where the relics of Saint Gilles were kept.

Built in 1788, it stands on the Kirchberg hill, as evidenced by a cornerstone engraved to the left of the nave and choir. The building consists of a large main rectangle about 26 meters by 15, with a choir of 5 meters by 15, slightly offset 2 meters to the right. A square tower measuring 6 meters by 6, forming the bell tower, rises at the end of this choir.

The main double-leaf portal opens on the south facade, while a side door on the east also provides access inside. Six large stained-glass windows illuminate the space, and the nave was decorated in 1932 with a fresco by painter René Kuder. This painting depicts Saint Gilles, protector of the place, appearing on a bright cloud, radiating holiness and accompanied by an angel.
