Saint John the Baptist Church

In Uttenhoffen, nestled in the heart of Alsace, stands the smallest church in the region. Its distinctive half-timbered bell tower immediately catches the eye. The building houses a choir dating from the 16th century, the oldest part of the church. This choir is vaulted with ribbed arches and features a keystone adorned with coats of arms, reflecting the Gothic style of the era. The nave, meanwhile, was rebuilt in the 18th century, as evidenced by the date engraved on the lintel of the west entrance door. The bell tower, also dated to this period, harmoniously completes the ensemble. Restored in 1988 and 1989, the church thus retains its historic charm. Although it is a simultaneous church, Catholic mass is celebrated there only once a year.
