Saint John the Baptist Church
Classified as a Historic Monument since 1930, the Saint John the Baptist Church is one of the five oldest churches in Upper Alsace. Its current architecture preserves the heritage of the 13th-century Romanesque building. Consecrated in 1481, it is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist, whose life is depicted in the 1901 altarpiece. Destroyed during World War I, it was rebuilt and fully renovated in 2011.
Inside, the 12th-century crypt attests to the site's antiquity. The Rinckenbach organ, installed in 1930, features 24 stops and 2 keyboards. Two 15th-century murals also adorn the building.
Around the church once lay a cemetery, of which some remarkable elements remain: a Merovingian sarcophagus and cenotaphs, remnants of an ancient history.
