Saint-Laurent Protestant Church

The church of Dorlisheim, built in the 12th century, bears witness to a rich religious history. After the adoption of the Reformation in the 16th century, it became a Protestant place of worship until 1685, when Louis XIV imposed the simultaneum, allowing multiple confessions to use it. The building is distinguished by its harmonious architecture: a triple nave in Romanesque style, a slender Gothic porch tower, and a choir flanked by two vaulted square chapels. The bas-reliefs decorating the exterior walls of the choir as well as its sculpted portal add to its historical and artistic charm.

Inside, the Rémy Mahler organ, completed in 2006, stands out for its Renaissance inspiration and homage to 17th-century Alsatian organs. This unique instrument, with its original craftsmanship, enhances the atmosphere of this place steeped in history.

The church is currently closed to the public, but visits can be arranged by appointment with the pastor.
