Saint-Martin Church

The Saint-Martin Church in Masevaux, constructed in 1786 in a neoclassical style, has had a turbulent history.

Construction was interrupted for several years due to cracks and was only completed in 1842.

In 1966, a fire completely destroyed the building, requiring five years of reconstruction.

Before this disaster, the church housed the famous organs by the Callinet brothers, installed in the nave.

A new instrument was rebuilt in 1975 by Alfred Kern after the fire.

Since 1977, Masevaux has hosted the International Organ Festival annually, an event that contributes to the town's renown.

The Saint-Martin Church is also part of the "In the Footsteps of Mary" Churches and Chapels Circuit and is a must-see site when visiting Masevaux.
