Saint Pancras Church Jetterswiller

The church of Jetterswiller, built in the 18th century, stands behind the village town hall. The dates 1749 and 1750, engraved on the nave door, the triumphal arch, and the east oculus of the tower, confirm this construction period. However, the building rests on the remains of an old Gothic structure, notably visible in the shape of its roof. An old door suggests that the tower might be older, having been either rehabilitated or fitted with a reused element. The stonemason marks, traces left by workers to certify their work, punctuate the church walls, while letters such as H, A, and X adorn some architectural elements, like the tower base or the triumphal arch. Inside, the church is distinguished by a single nave composed of three bays, ending with a choir tower rising over four levels. The building's silhouette is crowned by a ridge cross, symbolizing its religious purpose.
