Saint Sylvester Church
This church, dedicated to Saint Sylvester, was built in 1810 based on plans from 1770.
At that time, the population living on the left bank of the Largue River strongly requested its construction from the Bishopric of Basel. In 1854, the building was expanded with the addition of a bell tower and a porch, while in 1829 it was equipped with an organ, the last existing model by its maker, Joseph Chaxel of Benfeld.
The church was damaged during the Liberation battles in November 1944, resulting in the loss of its stained glass windows and paintings by Hans Jacob Buffler.
The pulpit and the Stations of the Cross were crafted by Austrian artisans.
In the 1990s, the church underwent major restorations both inside and out, including the repair of its organ.
