Saint Wendelin Chapel

At the foot of the Felsbourg stands this chapel, originally dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Built in 1566 by Adam de Landsberg and his wife Béatrice von Landeck, their coats of arms still adorn the lintel of the western door. Inside, traces of ancient frescoes decorate the former choir and nave, bearing witness to its decorative past. In the 17th and 18th centuries, the chapel was placed under the protection of Saint Wendelin, invoked to protect livestock from the common diseases of the time. This change reflects the devotion of the faithful to this saint, patron of domestic animals, in response to epidemics affecting herds and poultry. Until 1880, hermits lived there. In 1885, the parish priest acquired it and organized its restoration. Since 1898, it has belonged to the parish and is occasionally used as a meeting place for youth.
