Saints Peter and Paul Church

The Saints Peter and Paul Church stands in the center of the village of Burnhaupt-le-Bas.

Its origins date back to 1303, when a first church dedicated to the apostles Peter and Paul was mentioned.

Before the Revolution, a new religious building replaced the old one.

Between 1838 and 1840, architect Kuen from Masevaux carried out expansion works on the church.

After the fire on July 14, 1915, a new, more monumental church was built in 1927.

Inside, the Stations of the Cross is a copy of the one painted by Deschwanden. The choir frescoes depict scenes from the New Testament, while the stained glass windows were made by the Ott brothers' workshop from Strasbourg.

In the chapel dedicated to the Virgin, a 17th-century Mount of Olives, originating from the Saint-Wendelin chapel, is preserved.
