Saulxures

Saulxures enters history in the 14th century, then part of the County of Salm. Following a division of sovereignty between two family branches, the village came under Jean IX of Salm, whose inheritance later passed to the House of Lorraine. Saulxures remained Lorraine territory until 1751, when a new division incorporated it into the Principality of Salm. In 1793, after its annexation to France, it was attached to the Vosges department, along with the rest of the principality. The Treaty of Frankfurt later separated it from several neighboring communes, including Plaine, La Broque, and Grandfontaine.

Today, Saulxures is home to the restaurant-hotel La Belle Vue. Among its notable sites is the Manoir de Bénaville, a former industrialists' residence that reflects the local history.
