Schafert Farm Inn

Perched above Lake Kruth-Wildenstein, the Schafert overlooks the landscape with elegance.

This former mountain dairy, transformed into a farm inn, has retained its authentic charm while adapting to agricultural and tourist needs.

The establishment offers mountain dairy meals and other local specialties, served in two rooms accommodating up to 80 guests or on its shaded terrace. Farm products, such as Munster and Bargkas cheeses, highlight the Vosges terroir. In summer, visitors can enjoy picking berries, fishing, or swimming in the lake, located just 3 km away. Several hikes start nearby, including routes to Breitfirst (1h15), Rothenbachkopf (1h30), Altenweiher (2h30), Hohneck (3h), or Markstein (2h30). Access is by road from the Thur Valley (RN 66) via the D13, then a forest path after 1.5 km, or on foot from the lake (45 min) or Kruth (1h30). Open Wednesday to Sunday from mid-April to November 11, the inn may exceptionally open on a public holiday Monday or Tuesday.
