Scharrachbergheim Castle
This feudal manor, built by the Dettlingen family, is a former Wasserschloss surrounded by moats fed by nearby springs.
Located northeast of the village, it was originally a fortified castle.
During the Revolution, it became national property and was sold; successive owners are known until 1871.
That year, the painter Louis Schutzenberger acquired it.
In 1940, the castle was annexed by the Germans, its furnishings auctioned off, then it was requisitioned to house treasures from the museums of the Château des Rohan and Strasbourg's Notre-Dame.
Four curators lived there and restored artworks.
Finally, the castle was sold in 2007 to be converted into a residence and a relais château.
