Schlössel

Perched on a small hill adjacent to the Klosterwald, the Schlössel today houses the church, the old cemetery, and the presbytery.

This site was once a fortified place surrounded by ramparts and moats, the remains of which are still visible in the old cemetery.

One of these moats, called the "Kirchgraben" or church moat, was filled in between 1955 and 1963 by Mr. Kammer.

According to Abbé Nartz, this enclosure protected the entire village, including the church, the rector's residence, and the cemetery, all surrounded by moats and ramparts.
