Schoeneck Castle
Built around the year 1200, this castle underwent two major restoration phases in the 16th and 17th centuries. It preserves remains of 13th-century living quarters as well as a pentagonal keep, a testament to its military past. The main entrance, dating from the 16th century, is protected by two artillery bastions and opens onto a lower courtyard accessible to visitors. They can also admire the west tower, also built in the 16th century.
For over twenty years, the Cun Ulmer Grün association has been actively involved in the preservation, securing, and consolidation of the Schoeneck Castle. It works closely with the curator of the Archaeology House in Niederbronn-les-Bains, where objects discovered during archaeological excavations are displayed.
Guided tours of the site are offered in season, allowing visitors to discover its history and architectural features.
