Schweitzer Center
Follow in the footsteps of Albert Schweitzer, born in Kaysersberg and Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 1952, at the Schweitzer Center. This interpretive site dedicated to his humanist legacy offers an immersion into his life and ideas.
Born in 1875, Schweitzer was a doctor, theologian, musician, and philosopher who devoted his life to humanitarian aid and the promotion of peace, notably through founding a hospital in Lambaréné, Gabon. His commitment to freedom, tolerance, and mutual respect remains a global source of inspiration.
The center provides an interactive visit where modern technologies and permanent or temporary exhibitions allow you to discover his world and principles. To facilitate access, temporary exhibitions, the shop, and the bookstore are free, and a reduced rate is offered on the first Sunday of each month, making it ideal for an outing with family or friends.
