Silbermann Organ

Starting in 1707, the Marmoutier Abbey commissioned André Silbermann to build a large French-style organ. The instrument was completed in 1746 by his son, Jean André Silbermann. Comprising 1,510 pipes, the smallest measures 4 cm while the largest reaches 2.54 m in height. In 1954, Strasbourg organ builders Mulheisen and Kern restored the organ to its original state, thanks to the efforts of the Friends of the Silbermann Organ of Marmoutier. A second restoration was carried out in 2010 by the builder Blumenroeder.
