Silbermann Organ of Wasselonne
The Wasselonne organ is the tenth instrument built by Jean André Silbermann.
Created in 1745 for the Dominican church in Guebwiller, Haut-Rhin, it is inspired by the Silbermann organ model of the Dominicans in Colmar, with an additional 4-foot Flute stop on the positive manual.
Acquired by the town of Wasselonne during the Revolution, it was chosen for its grandeur, although the simultaneous church already had an instrument.
Its installation, between May 29 and September 9, 1792, lasted nearly four months due to technical constraints: the ceiling height did not exceed 7.89 meters.
Thus, this organ is older than the building that houses it today.
Classified as a Historic Monument in 1972, it retains 71% of its original pipes, cases, and wind chests, which helped finance its restoration thanks to this classification.
