Ski Club Refuge - Jules Frechard

This mountain refuge, located in a forest setting, is accessible from Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines by following the D48 to the Bagenelles Pass. After the Club Vosgien refuge, a small forest road and then a path lead to the Amis de la Nature parking lot, from where the chalet can be reached on foot.

In case of snow, the road becomes impassable: it is then recommended to park at the Bagenelles parking lot, 3.5 km away, and continue by cross-country skiing. Bring a backpack and a sled for the journey.

On the ground floor, the refuge has a fully equipped kitchen, a washroom area with a sink, and a large common room. Upstairs, two dormitories offer a total of 17 beds: one with 10 beds and the other with 7 beds. The refuge can be rented on a self-catering basis but does not offer showers or catering services. Outside, tables and benches are installed, along with toilets and a wood storage area for heating.
