Soultz-Haut-Rhin
Perched at the foot of the Vosges, near the highest peak of the range, Soultz is a wine-growing town whose origins date back to 667. Its name, probably derived from "Sulza," refers to a salty water spring that marked its history. Between the 16th and 17th centuries, viticulture brought a period of prosperity, visible today through its elegant Renaissance homes adorned with stair turrets, oriels, and buttresses, witnesses to this flourishing era.
With 7,311 inhabitants, Soultz charms with its warm atmosphere and picturesque streets. The historic circuit of old Soultz invites a stroll blending authentic charm and captivating stories. Among them is that of Georges de Heeckeren d’Anthès, whose castle still recalls the tragic duel with the Russian poet Pushkin.
A dynamic town, Soultz offers accommodations, restaurants, and shops, providing an ideal starting point to explore the Florival valley and its natural and cultural treasures.
