Soultzmatt
Perched at the foot of the Vosges, between vineyards and forests, Soultzmatt-Wintzfelden embodies the soul of the Noble Valley, named after the aristocratic families who thrived there in the 15th century. The village is also renowned for its thermal water springs, with bottling processes that can be discovered at the Lisbeth unit, open to visitors. Its very name evokes a spring with a salty and acidic taste, Sulz-Matte, literally "salt meadow" in Alsatian, reflecting the richness of its soils and its wine-growing terroir.
Soultzmatt is above all a land of grand crus, where nearly twenty families cultivate the famous Zinnkoepflé, an exceptional white wine. Since the 19th century, the vineyards have produced renowned aging wines such as gewurztraminer, riesling, and pinot gris, regularly awarded in international competitions. This terroir benefits from a warm and dry microclimate, fostering a unique Mediterranean biodiversity: the dry grasslands of Zinnkoepflé, classified Natura 2000, shelter rare and protected species, attracting botanists from around the world.
The commune also nurtures a living heritage, blending nature and culture. A Green Holiday Resort and awarded a 4th flower in the Cities and Villages in Bloom competition, it focuses on health tourism with marked hiking trails. Its history is also enriched by notable figures, including Namibian ambassador Panduleni Shingenge, artists Sophie Marceau, Francis Perrin, and André Zulawski, as well as athletes Bernard Thévenet and Alsatian Miss France winners Laetitia Bleger and Delphine Wespiser.
Equidistant from Colmar (24 km) and Mulhouse (29 km), Soultzmatt-Wintzfelden offers an authentic getaway where wine tastings, nature walks, and the discovery of a heritage both historical and vibrant come together.
