Sparsbach

The coat of arms of the commune is directly inspired by that of the dukes of Hohenlohe-Bartenstein, who were co-lords of the area in 1691. Long before this period, in the 12th and 14th centuries, ponds and a mill were already mentioned as belonging to the Lichtenberg family, illustrating the long history of human occupation in this territory.

The surrounding forest contains many overhanging rocks that may have served as temporary shelters at various times.

For a long time, the only local economic activity was small-scale subsistence farming. It was only from the 19th century that forestry and clog making gained importance, marking a turning point in the commune's economic history.
