St Ulrich Church
The current church originates from the medieval core of 1499, while its nave was expanded in 1724.
Between 1800 and 1814, Abbé Louis KREMP, founder of the Sisters of Divine Providence of Ribeauvillé, served as parish priest here and established the first novitiate.
In December 1944, during the Battle of the Colmar Pocket, the village endured heavy bombardments: fourteen shells struck the church, causing significant damage. Its restoration took several years after the war.
The interior layout as known today was finalized between 1973 and 1974.
Inside, a monumental painting depicting Saint Ulrich, likely painted in the mid-18th century, draws attention. It was restored in 2019, along with the paintings on the side altars. The left altar shows the Virgin Mary, topped by a medallion of Saint Louis de Gonzague. On the right, the baptism of Christ is depicted, with a medallion representing Saint Vincent de Paul, patron saint of the Ried Major parish community.
