Städtelglöckelturm in Westhoffen

The Städtelglöckelturm is the bell tower of the town's belfry, designed to warn residents in case of danger or significant events. According to local legend, a woman lost in the forest found her way back thanks to the sound of the bell. In gratitude, she offered a silver bell, which rings every evening at 10 p.m. This bell played a central role in community life: it marked calls to meetings, signaled capital executions, announced the approach of an enemy, or indicated the closing of the town gates. Beyond its practical function, the belfry also symbolized the power of the lord who ruled the city.
