Standard-bearer

At 7 rue du Couvent in Mulhouse, a mural by Ernest Meichler pays tribute to the bannerets or Mulhouse Swiss guards. In the 18th century, Mulhouse maintained close ties with the Swiss cantons, to the extent of regularly providing a contingent of its inhabitants to Switzerland. This artwork thus celebrates their commitment and historical role.
