Stattmatten

The history of this small town is closely intertwined with that of the Rhine, the majestic river that has served both as a natural border and a passageway for warriors.

According to legend, it all began with the arrival of a family from Switzerland, the Heintzens. While traveling along the banks of the Rhine, they were captivated by the beauty of the landscape.

Near a lively quay bordered by a lush meadow, they chose to dock their boat. Enchanted by the place, they settled there permanently and thus founded this village.
