Statue of Liberty

In Colmar, a 12-meter tall resin replica of the Statue of Liberty pays tribute to Auguste Bartholdi. Born in this city in 1834, the artist created the original "Liberty Enlightening the World," better known as the Statue of Liberty. This Colmar statue was designed to mark the centenary of his death in 1904.

To celebrate this anniversary, the Colmar Municipality organized a series of initiatives and events. Among them, the installation of this replica at the northern entrance of the city serves as a tribute to Colmar's most famous native. It also highlights the global significance of his work.

This statue thus becomes an additional symbol of the ties between Colmar and the United States, strengthened since 1986 by a twinning agreement with Princeton, a university town near New York.
