Stengel Catholic Church

This sanctuary, featuring simple architecture but marked by a polygonal choir, shows similarities with the church of Eschwiller. The plans were overseen by Stengel and the work directed by Dodel. The most remarkable element of the building remains its portal, a fine example of stereotomy topped with a curvilinear pediment, showcasing the craftsmanship of the era.

After the prince's death in 1768, the dowager countess Sophie Charlotte Erdmuth occupied the Lorentzen castle until 1793. Converted to Catholicism, she attended religious services in this church.

On November 15, 1985, the building, then disused, was fully listed as a Historic Monument. Today, the building has been transformed into the Stengel cultural hall, thus continuing its role in local life.
