Still
Still is a peaceful commune located near Molsheim, to the west of Strasbourg. The village stretches along the Stillbach, a stream that likely gave it its name. Since ancient times, the presence of clay, ideal for making bricks, tiles, and pottery, as well as the proximity to this water source, attracted the first inhabitants. They settled close to their workplaces, as evidenced by the old quarry street Tiefgasse, now called Évêque de Lichtenberg street, which contributed to the village's founding.
Still's historical past is rich and dates back several centuries. A Merovingian sarcophagus, integrated into the wall of the school courtyard, as well as Merovingian tombs discovered in 1964 on the slopes of the local hill, attest to this distant era. Additionally, a diploma from Charlemagne dated 773 confirms King Dagobert II's donation of Still to Bishop Heddo of Strasbourg. Among the commune's emblematic sites is the Münchof, also called Mönchhof or Casa Romualdi, first mentioned in a document from 1156.
