Strasbourg Neuhof Aerodrome - Polygone

Former military ground used from 1720 to 1920, the Polygone initially served as a maneuver field for the Kaiser's army.

It was here that the first machine gun was tested and military parades were held.

With the rise of aviation, it became a site for experimenting with early aircraft. Émile Mathis even organized the first air show at the Meinau.

During World War I, the site hosted a military pilot school, then after the war, it housed the famous Groupe des Cigognes, a fighter plane unit where Antoine de Saint-Exupéry earned his pilot's license.

From 1920 onward, the Polygone shifted towards commercial and recreational aviation, organizing numerous air shows.

Today, it is exclusively dedicated to recreational aviation, offering parachuting, gliding, and powered flight schools.
