Sundial of the Récollets Church

In the courtyard of the cloister of the former Récollets church, a geocentric sundial dating back to 1617, predating Galileo and Kepler, stands as a unique example in Europe.

This remarkable astronomical device reflects the knowledge of the time.

The west arcade of the cloister has been preserved, but its tracery was damaged after 1870 when the courthouse was installed in the premises.

Due to these works, access to the sundial is currently prohibited.
