Synagogue of Quai Kléber

On the site of the former synagogue on Quai Kléber, now replaced by a square in front of the Place des Halles shopping center, stood a neo-Romanesque building constructed in 1897.

Designed to accommodate up to 1,600 worshippers, this synagogue was the place of worship for the local Jewish community.

In 1940, Hitler Youth set fire to it before the building was dynamited the following year.

To honor the memory of this past, the Alley of the Righteous Among the Nations was inaugurated on this site in 2012.
