Thann
At the entrance to the Thur valley, Thann stretches out at the foot of the Vosges foothills in a gentle setting.
Its historic center, organized around the Saint-Thiébaut Collegiate Church, a Gothic masterpiece built between the 13th and 15th centuries, breathes history at every step. The winding streets reveal a well-preserved heritage: Renaissance houses, sculpted fountains, ornate bay windows, defensive towers, and shaded quays along the Thur River.
Nearby, the ruins of Engelbourg Castle, nicknamed the witch's eye, overlook the town and offer a panoramic view accessible by a twenty-minute walk.
A symbol of this town, the Collegiate Church and its soaring towers watch over a rich past, while the surrounding vineyards, notably the Grand Cru Rangen, continue a renowned winemaking tradition.
As the southern gateway to the Alsace Wine Route, Thann is also listed among the Most Beautiful Detours of France, combining medieval charm with exceptional terroir.
