Thanvillé Castle

In the 11th century, a fortress was built on this site to control the entrance to the Villé valley and collect tolls on the ancient Salt Road.

Today, this historic site appears as an elegant lowland castle, originally surrounded by water, with its current structure dating from the 17th century.

Protected by a large square courtyard, access is through an iconic gate tower, characteristic of this place rich in history.

To explore over a thousand years of evolution, guided tours are offered with a guide from the AOC, highlighting the castle's past, considered one of the finest residences in Alsace at the beginning of the 20th century. These tours, available by reservation only, take place from May to September. The Villé Valley Office manages bookings and also offers fun trails for children during the summer and visits tailored for groups.
