The Alsace Bread House - The Museum

Nestled in the heart of Alsace, near the Humanist Library and not far from Haut Koenigsbourg Castle, the Maison du Pain d’Alsace invites you to explore the world of bread through a unique museum journey. Five themed areas guide you from the wheat ear to the flours, covering traditional and modern artisanal techniques.

You will also discover legends linked to Alsatian specialties like the pretzel and kougelhopf, in all their forms and flavors.

To extend the sensory experience, the bakers welcome you to their bakery where special breads, kougelhopfs, pretzels, anise bread, and bredle are prepared and baked on site. Participatory workshops, suitable for all ages, are held throughout the year. Finally, a tea room and terrace offer the chance to extend your visit with a delicious moment, to live, smell, and taste the history of bread in Sélestat.
