The Aubette 1928
In 1928, with a decidedly avant-garde spirit, Theo Van Doesburg, Hans Jean Arp, and Sophie Taeuber-Arp collaborated to create the decorations for the Aubette leisure complex. Today, the entire first floor has been restored and is classified as a Historic Monument.
By taking the geometrically designed staircase, you reach the Ciné-dancing, whose decor is inspired by Elementarism. The Foyer-bar, where one could have a drink while watching a screening, completes this ensemble. Finally, the Salle des fêtes stands out with a strict orthogonal composition, reflecting the rigorous aesthetics of the era.
